Description

Last night I set-up my SCT around 6:00pm to prepare for my night of imaging M86. Just before dusk my daughter and friends were outside in the yard and my wife was taking a few pictures of them. About 15 minutes after my wife went out, my daughter ran inside and said, "Dad, there's an owl on your telescope." My first thought was that she was messing with me. When I got up and looked outside I could see all the girls watching something on the other side of the garage. I finally thought that maybe she wasn't joking with me and when I went out, sure enough, there was a great horned owl sitting on the top of my SCT. We live right across the street from a park and I hear the owls most nights hooting away; you don't realize how loud these birds get. There have been several nights when I head more than one. Anyway, I thought it was funny that this one decided to perch itself on top of my scope. It turns out that with was the best shot of the night as the clouds rolled in and I didn't get many subs of the Markarian Chain.
